FORUM UPDATE

The GRAPA forum is taking off!

GRAPA has 2 new moderators (Ahmed and Lomako) and 15 other applicants that are in the process of being sorted so that they can moderate their preferred forum. These moderators will be given special privileges in order to monitor and police the forums. They volunteered their time to make sure the forums run as smoothly as possible. For this, GRAPA would like to thank them for their hard work and kind hearts. If you are interested in being a GRAPA Moderator, contact Carola Rusch by email at carola@grapatel.com for more information.

Also, GRAPA now supports 3 different languages! GRAPA has an all Spanish forum, as well as an all French forum. These forums will help some of our members who might not use English as their top language. These forums now make GRAPA even more diverse and accessible to people around the world.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT VENDORS AND CONSULTANTS

From the GRAPA President:

GRAPA's momentum has continued to grow, and our numbers have reached over 450 in a very short period of time. Now it is time to get down to the serious business of doing revenue assurance. The first issue on everyone's mind is what to do about vendors and consultants. Now that our recruitment drive is complete, we are ready to tackle this difficult issue. At this time, the executive steering committee is reviewing the options, and when this review process is complete, we will let members know about our next step in this direction. We want to include these very important members of revenue assurance in our own RA activities, but we also want to keep our focus on assuring RA and not on issues such as selling software and hardware.

MEET THE GRAPA ADMIN TEAM:

Carola Rusch

Carola is multilingual in four languages: German, English, French, and a little Spanish. She tries to contribute as best as she can to GRAPA because she likes the idea of it so much and its international approach. She handled most of the recruitment drive, all executive steering committee members, and is starting to recruit regional chairmen for all the continents of the world.

She lives in Germany and actually spent a lot of time last summer at the football World Cup, once again, volunteering her time. Carola said, "The World Cup was the most wonderful spectacle I have ever seen. I was so happy to be a part of it!" GRAPA is an exciting experience to her; it is hard work and fun at the same time. Carola's aim is to help GRAPA become a real community, an association in the world's best meaning.

My Experiences:

by Johnny Yesulis

Being an intern at GRAPA has taught me much about the telecommunications industry in general and how to assure its products more specifically. I've learned that you couldn't always send videos on your cell phone, and that 3G is actually a relatively new product. I've learned that the mediation system is probably the coolest computer ever, and that there isn't just one signal that goes from your phone to the one you're calling. But most of all, I've learned that telecommunications and revenue assurance are very interesting topics that I would like to pursue in my upcoming years of education.

On top of learning technical names and how certain systems work, I learned more about people. I have especially learned more about people from other countries. I really enjoy talking to people outside of the United States, because I always learn so much from them. I had a lot of fun with the GRAPA recruitment drive because I got to call people all day and talk to them about their revenue assurance departments and the way that they worked. I was able to see the different ways people handled problems, based on the area and size of their companies.

I am very excited about my next step in GRAPA. I have volunteered to help recruit GRAPA Moderators and make sure that all moderators get to control a forum of their choice. Also, I had to make sure I knew how to moderate the forums myself, in order to teach the volunteers. It has been a difficult, but thrilling ride, and I hope to continue helping GRAPA. I am completely amazed on how well GRAPA is doing and I am very proud to be part of such a great organization.
