What Does a Committee Chair Do?

Committee chairs are responsible for organizing a specific committee, upholding the mission of the committee, running meetings, setting tasks to meet the committee’s goals, and accepting new members into the committee. Again, because this is a volunteer-run organization, we are looking for individuals with professional drive, dedication to the industry, and ability to consolidate the efforts of those in the committee to take charge of the chair positions.

What Do Committee Chairs Receive?

To help the chair person meet these responsibilities, the GRAPA Administration Group (AG) will serve as the liaison to the committee.

The primary function of the Administration Group is to facilitate communication between the committee chair and the committee members.

The AG will provide each committee chair with:

• Press release announcing appointment to be sent to press, membership, and their management team

• Press referrals (whenever a press person wants someone to interview)

• A website template for their site  

• Mission worksheets

• Recruitment emails

• Phone conferencing service

• Web conferencing service

• Corresponding web forum

• Business cards

How Can I Become a Committee Chair?

Interested individuals may send their CV to webmaster@grapatel.com for consideration for the position of committee chair. After 3 applicants have applied, a vote will be put to the committees’ interested members and a decision will be made.
